My PhD research in linguistics combines phonetics, phonology, and community-based research, focusing on the Hidatsa language (Siouan family, North Dakota). My work integrates Community-Based Research methodologies with data-driven phonetic and phonological research, establishing a model for ethical, community-centered linguistic studies. This approach advances our understanding of Siouan phonetics and phonology while contributing to sustainable language reclamation efforts, aligning academic research with community needs and prioritizing Indigenous data sovereignty.
